The Board of Directors is the governing body of the The Lakeshore REALTORS® Association. The main functions of the Board are:  to establish the current and future direction of the organization; to ensure long-term organizational stability and year-to-year success by setting priorities for finances, programs, committees, and educational opportunities; and to further the role of REALTORS® as community partners. 

Director Qualifications:
  1. REALTOR® applicants for the Association Board must be a member of LRA in good standing and shall have at least two (2) years of experience in real estate. Affiliate members must be a member of the LRA at least one (1) year.

  2. Director terms are for two (2) years. Board Member responsibilities include attendance at monthly in-person meetings. Absence from three (3) regular meetings without an excuse deemed valid by the board of directors shall be construed as resignation.

  3. Term limits. No director shall serve for more than three (3) consecutive two (2) year terms.

  4. No more than three (3) REALTORS® from the same real estate firm may serve simultaneously on the board of directors.

 

Officer Qualifications:
  1. The elected officers of the Association shall be: a President, a President-Elect, a Secretary and a Treasurer. They shall be elected for terms of one (1) year, though the office of President carries a three (3) year commitment:  one year each as President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past President. 

  2. A candidate for any officer position must be a current sitting officer or director with at least one (1) year of service on the board of directors.

Time & Financial Considerations

Board positions require a commitment of time and energy that should not be underestimated. Board officers and directors are bound by a fiduciary duty to the LRA.

  • Committee Work (Association Directors serve as Liaisons on committees)

  • Membership meetings, social events and fundraisers.  Attendance is highly encouraged.
